Hichki’s success at the Box Office proves once again that a movie doesn’t need to rely on a massive budget or an ensemble of A-list superstars to become a hit. Despite being centered around mental health, a sensitive topic with so much stigma around it, the movie has won the hearts of critics as well as its audience.
On Thursday, the movie collected 35 lacs, taking its total collection to 42.55 crores so far. Made on a budget of 20 crores, the movie has managed to make an ROI of 22.55 crores up till now. Its return on investment % currently stands at 112.75%, surpassing the Ajay Devgn and Ileana D’Cruz starrer Raid, which has an ROI% of 111.54% right now.
The Rani Mukerji starrer is currently the 4th most profitable film of 2018, behind Luv Ranjan’s Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 2 and Akshay Kumar starrer PadMan.
Here’s how we calculate Profit Percentage:
Collections – Budget = ROI

Talking about the impact of the film in an interview with Filmfare, Rani said, “Mardaani, which was my film just before Hichki also received a lot of positive and overwhelming response but the kind of response I’m getting for Hichki is making me remember the reactions that I got during Black.”
“I felt happy of course when I had my daughter, Adira. That happiness can’t be compared with anything else. More than happiness I’m just so relieved. The film has done well, it has been received well and the film has gone beyond just being a hit, it has become a movement. People are talking about it as an inspiration. When that happens with a film, it just makes it very special.” she continues.
