Hichki Box Office: Rani Mukerji starrer Hichki has had a phenomenal run at the box office so far. While most films face a struggle to simply maintain collections in their second or third weeks, Hichki has been going strong even after its fifth weekend.

Appreciated by the audience and critics alike, the film has been making profits since day one on the silver screen, since it already recuperated its budget through non theatrical rights like music, television and web.

Currently running on 244 screens, Hichki earned 65 lacs during its fifth weekend, a great number for a film during this stage of its run. The film has received widespread appreciation from all age-groups due to its fantastic content, despite being centered a sensitive topic like mental health. The socially relevant, yet entertaining film has touched the hearts of moviegoers everywhere. The film’s total collection currently stands at 45.20 crores.

Talking about the impact of the film in an interview with Filmfare, Rani said, “Mardaani, which was my film just before Hichki also received a lot of positive and overwhelming response but the kind of response I’m getting for Hichki is making me remember the reactions that I got during Black.”

In the film, she plays the character of Naina Mathur, a woman who has a nervous system disorder, Tourette Syndrome that forces an individual to make involuntary repetitive movements or sounds.The film focuses on turning disadvantages into opportunities, staring down challenges that life throws at one and ultimately winning over them.

Rani has proven her mettle as a versatile actress, with the sheer volume of diverse roles she’s played throughout the years, with the utmost conviction. She’s played a wide array of characters, from the stylish diva as Tina in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai or a deaf, blind and mute Michelle McNally in Black Before Hichki, the actress was last seen playing a police officer named Shivani Shivaji Roy in Mardaani in 2014.
