Exclusive! Ayushmann Khurrana's idea about marriage will make you respect him even more

Ayushmann Khurrana, who’s receiving endless appreciation for his recent release, Shubh Mangal Saavdhaan, talks to us about his film and more.

Is it a deliberate move that you haven’t done a full commercial masala movie?

For me Bareily ki Barfi was a commercial masala film. It had all the ingrediants of a masala film. Even Shubh Managal… is a commercial masala film. In totality Anand L Rai is known for commercial family entertainers. This is a perfect Anand L rai family entertainer.

What’s your criteria for choosing a film now?

In every script you look for noble. Like whenever you read the script you read the script in totality. When I read the script and get a narration I take it as an audience, like as an audience I would love to see the film or not. So that’s what I have learnt over the years that you have to see the script in totality, only then it will work.

Does success and failure affect you?

Of course you get disappointed when your film doesn’t do well. You take decision on your instincts.  But having said that, I got connected to the film, that story and when you are connected to the flm, you want to do that film. It happened with  Meri Pyari Bindu, because I thought that the film is very nostalgic. It had its own charm. I got mixed reaction for Meri Pyari… but I am glad that my part was appreciated.

Your film usually revolves around marriage related problems… what would be your advice to married couples?

“SRK said in Kuch Kuch hota Hai,  Pyar dosti hai. So I do agree that pyar dosti hai. Because the initial phase of your attraction goes away in the first 6 months or a year time. When you discover each other physically or emotionally, I think eventually friendship lasts forever, companionship lasts forever. So be a good companion and be a good friend. Only then your marriage can survive.
