Avengers: Infinity War India Box Office Early Trends: RECORD BREAKING Superheroes!

Avengers: Infinity War Box Office Early Trends: Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you probably know about Marvel’s The Avengers. With the studio setting up its cinematic universe over the past decade with numerous films, it has finally culminated into what is rightfully touted as the ‘biggest crossover event in history’ in Avengers: Infinity War.

The film broke many records even before it got released yesterday. Despite being released on a non-holiday, and in over 2000 screens, the film recorded a mind-blowing occupancy of 70-90%, the highest for any film in India in 2018.

The film is currently said to have collected somewhere between 29 – 31 crores on its 1st day, a number unprecedented for any Hollywood film in India on its opening day. The film features an ensemble of 22 superheroes including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, Doctor Strange, Spiderman and many more, who come together to stop their most dangerous foe till date, Thanos. The film also circles around the 6 infinity stones, which the previous Marvel films had talked about.

In a statement to IANS, Ashish Saksena, the Chief Operating Officer of Cinemas, BookMyShow, said, “The response to ticket bookings for ‘Avengers: Infinity War‘ has been extremely encouraging across formats. And while, as expected, the craze for watching the film on an IMAX screen is huge, the sales have been remarkable even for the 3D format,”

He continues, “Given the huge anticipation around the film from fans, Disney opened the advance bookings on Sunday instead of Wednesday as is the trend and this turned out to be a rewarding decision.”

Talking about the same, Rajender Singh Jyala, Chief Programming Officer, INOX Leisure Limited, said the advance booking response of Avengers: Infinity War is “outstanding across all their multiplexes.”

While early predictions did say the film would be a box office success, no one expected such numbers. At this rate, it will easily surpass its prequels as well as Furious 7. Since it won’t be facing much competition for the next 2 weeks, it might even surpass The Jungle Book to become the highest grossing Hollywood film in India.
